IT WAS THE LAST THING HE TOLD ME: PROTECT HER

Before Owen Michaels disappears, he manages to smuggle a note to his new wife, Hannah: protect her。 Hannah knows exactly who Owen needs her to protect - his sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child。 And who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother。

As her increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered, his boss is arrested for fraud and the police start questioning her, Hannah realises that her husband isn't who he said he was。 And that Bailey might hold the key to discovering Owen's true identity, and why he disappeared。 Together they set out to discover the truth。 But as they start putting together the pieces of Owen's past, they soon realise that their lives will never be the same again。。。

Tender, twists, surprisesWhen you think you know what will happen, just keep reading, it doesn't。 And yet it does。 Beautifully written。 Could not put down。 Tender, twists, surprisesWhen you think you know what will happen, just keep reading, it doesn't。 And yet it does。 Beautifully written。 Could not put down。 。。。more

3。5 stars。 I enjoyed the book, but I found the twist to be kind of anticlimactic and I really really did not like the ending。

3 starsso honestly, i dont know how to explain it。 this book wasn't that good but it wasn't necessarily terrible。 the ending, in my opinion, was pretty predictable。 it didn't really hook me from the start and i thought hannah was really naive。 i suppose it did have some surprising elements, which is why its a 3, but I'm honestly going back and forth on my rating。 :| 3 starsso honestly, i dont know how to explain it。 this book wasn't that good but it wasn't necessarily terrible。 the ending, in my opinion, was pretty predictable。 it didn't really hook me from the start and i thought hannah was really naive。 i suppose it did have some surprising elements, which is why its a 3, but I'm honestly going back and forth on my rating。 :| 。。。more

Helen

the teenage daughter only referred to the dad as “my father” and it was so baffling to me because a teenager would never talk like that。

Marlene Hekkert

Great pacing in the writing。 I couldn’t put it down。 The story line felt a little far fetched but I still enjoyed it。

Clarissa Woody

Beautiful story of family, instincts and what you do for love。 A mystery/thriller that is different than others!

Maria Flanagan

I enjoyed the story, but it fell a little flat for me。 Anticlimactic。

Andrea Eklund

3。5- I wanted to like this story more than I did。 I liked how Hannah’s memories of Owen work backwards to fill in some information, but I felt that the suspense/mystery fell flat for all the hype surrounding this book。

hannah

I liked that the ending didn't tie everything up in a bow。 I liked that the ending didn't tie everything up in a bow。 。。。more

A triller about love and sacrifice。

Hummmm…If I was Hannah…so Owen you didn’t leave me a note? 🤪🤪🤪 I mean am I chopped liver over here?!?!?

I had high expectations for this one, as this is Goodreads' 2021 choice winner for thriller。 VERY strong start, a husband missing leaving a cryptic note and 600,000 dollars? A high-level fraud? Murky past? Ok! Then the story shifted its focus to the husband's past (still ok, still a page turner) and introduced a new conflict。 But by the end, I was quite disappointed。 The resolution to the story isn't satisfying。 It doesn't really resolve the conflict initiated in the first place。 Also, I don't t I had high expectations for this one, as this is Goodreads' 2021 choice winner for thriller。 VERY strong start, a husband missing leaving a cryptic note and 600,000 dollars? Enjoyable!!! A quick read with likable characters。 I love mysteries and I am pretty good at figuring out what is going on but the ending surprised me a bit。

Hooked from the first chapter…Hard to put down。 The plot had some twists and turns and kept you guessing。 Great for a vacation or beach read。

Jennifer Compton

I really enjoyed this! Great read。 I like unexpected twists and endings, etc!

Sandi

I was completely into this book and expected to give in five stars。 The last 25%, however, was to me, very unsatisfying and borderline ridiculous。 Up until then, I was intrigued and invested in this story of a missing father and husband and the clues that are left behind。

Sandra Vernal-sawant

Fast paced and intriguing。 Ending was a little disappointing but a good read overall。

Joan

This text is highly addictive and suspenseful。 It does have a slow start but it steadily improves and becomes quite interesting。 It’s the story of a second wife who is so in love with her husband and his teenage daughter that she doesn’t realize that she really doesn’t know him or his past。 This leads to a completely different lifestyle than she envision living at with her new family。

Bonnie Ladd

InterestingEnjoyed reading。 Believe book would be good for a discussion group, providing some interesting insights。 Personally would have liked a little more wrap up at the end。

Stacy

I love a good book that keeps me guessing。

Patty

If this is an example of a number one bestseller, no wonder so few people read anymore!

Charlotte Jones

I really enjoyed this book。 Although the ended felt a but abrupt the pace throughout was excellent。

Sammee

2。5 stars。 It was okay。 I guessed it pretty early on just not all the details。 Bittersweet ending with a whole lot of stupid in the middle but just enough of that certain something to keep you。

4。5 ⭐️the big reveal didn't really do it for me, only reason it's not 5 stars。 i will say i didn't see it coming, but i was kinda like ehh when i got to it。 i loved the story though, and the progression between hannah and bailey。 because i was so close with my grandfather, the chapters spent talking about him pulled at my heart strings。 ❤️ 4。5 ⭐️the big reveal didn't really do it for me, only reason it's not 5 stars。 i will say i didn't see it coming, but i was kinda like ehh when i got to it。 i loved the story though, and the progression between hannah and bailey。 because i was so close with my grandfather, the chapters spent talking about him pulled at my heart strings。 ❤️ 。。。more
